Savita, the mother of Haryana Congress worker Himani Narwal, who was found dead and stuffed in a suitcase in Rohtak, claimed on Monday that the accused is likely someone known — either from the party, her college, or a relative.
Speaking to ANI, Savita expressed her belief that her daughter’s strong and principled nature made her unwilling to tolerate any wrongdoing. “I am sure the accused is a known person, either someone from the party, someone from her college, or our relative. The person who could come to her house is someone she trusted a lot. If anyone tried to hurt her trust, she would take action against them. No matter how big the person was, she couldn’t tolerate even a single wrong word from anyone,” she said.
Savita dismissed speculation around her daughter’s personal life, asserting that Himani was solely focused on her work. “There’s a difference between a friend and a boyfriend. She only focused on her work, and if someone tried to cross boundaries, she wouldn’t even let them enter her gate. Something wrong must have happened,” she added.
Demanding justice, Savita called for the death penalty for the accused. “What will happen by meeting the accused? I want the death penalty. No one from the government has contacted us so far,” she told ANI.
Haryana Police confirmed the arrest of one accused in connection with the case. Himani Narwal’s body was discovered near a highway in Rohtak on March 1.
Earlier, Savita held the election and the Congress party responsible for her daughter’s death, suggesting that Himani’s rising stature within the party had created enemies. She also claimed that her daughter had been receiving threats and that her close associations with prominent Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi and the Hooda family had sparked jealousy among some individuals.
